Ontario Government Supports Electrolab

On February 13, a press conference was held at Electrolab Training Systems in Belleville Ontario to announce a large multi-year expansion project. The Ontario government under the Eastern Ontario Development Fund will be investing $178,000 to assist with this estimated $2 million expansion, which will create 25 full-time jobs.

"Electrolab Training Systems is a success story that demonstrates eastern Ontario's capacity to contribute to the provincial economy and attract international attention," said Leona Dombrowsky, MPP for Prince Edward-Hastings. "The expansion will help to create jobs and support two communities."

A note from Electrolab's founder, Norm Wilson

This is the beginning of a momentous Major Multi-Year Expansion Project that we are undertaking – particularly so when we are all facing a world-wide economic turndown of unprecedented proportions.

Electrolab is in the workplace training business since 1975 helping to create a safe and skilled workforce in Canada, the USA and internationally.  With our unique SafeStart Safety Training program. SafeStart improves personal safety skills so that injuries are reduced on the job, and off the job. We typically achieved “lost time accident reductions” of 30% to 60%. In some cases even higher! Our SafeStart program has now been used to train more than a million workers, in over 40 countries, in 20 languages, and in every work environment imaginable.

A couple of our more recent successes is the successful completion of SafeStart throughout Honda in Alliston (4,500 employees), and just very recently the implementation of the program at Procter and Gamble in Belleville, Ontario.

Companies like Honda and P&G understand that safety is a core value. It’s a moral commitment to their employees and their community that must be maintained in good and bad times.  They also understand that it’s smart business. Even in tough times, companies who know they will survive this recession are exploring the opportunity to make improved safety performance a competitive edge for when the economy rebounds.

The SafeStart expansion project that the EODF funding is supporting is a project that will create jobs and help businesses – locally and globally – to gain a competitive edge.

Most importantly it will reduce injuries and save lives!

Here at Electrolab, there is a lot to be passionate about – and we are!
